Hey Floyd fans... I need your help.
I have a friend who's been stuck, musically, on modern-day Top 40,
Punk, Emo, Modern Country, etc. She's been listening to (and
enjoying!) stuff like Nickleback, 50 Cent, Linkin Park, Green Day,
Korn, My Chemical Romance, etc. So a group of us decided a while back
to "save her."
So we've all been making "intro discs" of tons of great bands. Being
the classic music lover I am, that was my territory (one friend had
metal, another friend had jazz, and another had folk). I've already
given her Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who, The Beatles, ELP, Yes, The
Yardbirds, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Allman Brothers, and more (though
I have gone off the course twice by doing Nirvana and Days of the
New). I have had the most success of the four of us trying to
musically save her. Tomorrow I'm giving her copies of all my official
Zeppelin CD's (not the DVD's, yet), and I'm including P/P No Quarter
and WiC. She's become quite a bit more critical of some modern-day
"rock" as well.
But now I have to do Pink Floyd. I ended up copying my "Echoes - The
Best of Pink Floyd" for her, but I'd like to do a disc 3 of sorts.
Thing is, I need a track I don't have and suggestions for what else I
should put on it. The track I need is this:
Audio (uncompressed or lossless... I don't want to do an MP3 mix) of
"Careful with that Axe, Eugene" from Live @ Pompeii. This is my
all-time favorite Floyd number, and Live @ Pompeii is the best
version. I haven't bought the DVD yet, however. This is a problem I
plan on rectifying in the very near future, but this CD comes first.
So that's really my request: Audio of CWTAE from Live @ Pompeii.
Also, I only currently have decided on that track above as well as
Brain Damage (DSOTM), Eclipse (DSOTM), Mother (The Wall), Young Lust
(The Wall), Is There Anybody Out There (The Wall), and Lucifer Sam
(Piper at the Gates of Dawn). Any other suggestions not on Echoes? I
want to do 13 tracks in all, so I need 6 more.
And now for the Zep content:
I have not yet gotten my pre-order of TSRTS Collector's Edition, as I
pre-ordered it through Border's so I could pick it up at the store. I
am going tomorrow (Monday) to get it, however, and I can't freakin'
wait! I LOVE all the good reviews I'm seeing so far. They're making
my mouth water!
The one thing I'd like to know, however, is... what about the t-shirt?
I keep hearing things about how thin it is. Is this true? Should I
treat the shirt likes it's fragile? Or is it tough? Those of you
who've worn it, let me know. Thanks.
