I scoured the stores in Montreal for the last couple of days and found a
good soldier at the local Best Buy who was willing to dig through their
stock in the back to find a copy of the regular edition 2007 release
(other stores where I'd been had sold out the first day).
I haven't watched the full movie yet but I did watch the extras last
night. I'm still stunned. OTHAFA is so good. Ditto CD. In these and in
every menu, there seems to be beautifully restored footage that's better
quality than the movie itself. There are a lot of nice candid shots of
Bonzo with his facial expressions. In fact, all four members seem to be
very expressive. There's one of JPJ in OTHAFA where he looks hard at
work concentrating (and the bass in absolutely stunning on this new
release. So clear. So punchy but not boomy).
I just can't say enough about it. The sound is kinda maximized but not
as bad as a CD release. All instruments and voices seem very clear and
detailed.
Well done Kevin Shirley, art people and of course Jimmy, Robert, John
Paul and whatever Bonham's were involved. It's a beautiful restoration.
Damned shame you couldn't touch the movie itself.

Just got mine minutes ago!!!! woohoooo....now can't wait for everyone
to zonk tonite so daddy can feast his eyes on this puppy.
Now, problem is with the free poster offer, They want a reciept from
11/20 - 12/?? along with the upc for proof of purchase...what if you
pre-ordered from amazon and being scatterbrained like me can no longer
find that order confirmation email?!?!?! And it was well before 11/20...
The newspaper articles are a bit tough to read for my eyes. I kinda
wish that had been a little bigger.
Haven't opened the t-shirt yet as that review posted earlier
complaining of it being ultra thin material got me worried that as
soon as I squeeze into it like an overstuffed sausage, I'll snag it on
something and poof gone gone gone, really gone.
And I have actually avoided watching TSRTS for some time so as to give
myself the total wow factor. I did watch that CD segment posted up on
the warnervid site though. And can't wait to bust on that kat that
said it was in the original big screen version. I had argued with him
over and over that it never was and he went as far as betting me his
JP signature series LP on it. Even with the legal formalities exposed
he still refused to budge from his assertion that it was in the film
then removed. And I mean, watching that there are certain aspects of
it that would certainly have been remembered by me and the thousands,
litterally, fans I questioned about it. I won't spoil it for those
that haven't seen it yet.

I got the box from Amazon yesterday. All of the little tidbits of
newspaper clippings and photos are cool. I'm glad I got this one.
I slid the plastic wrapped T-shirt out of the box. Low and Behold
it's an XL and fits good. Gotta love that. LOL
I'll give the disks a spin tonight after work. Even though in the
past 3 weeks or so I've watched this film numerous times. But now I
have a little extra to watch. LOL
:O)
