In case you haven't spent all your money, here's a
recommendation.
I ordered Joe Bonamassa' You & Me album this week from
an online retailer and receive it a couple of days
ago. This is his release prior to the latest album.
Produced and engineered by Kevin Shirley, it also
features Jason Bonham on drums, and is recent, so this
will give you some idea of what Jason sounds like
these days.
I'm very impressed. He's got his dad's sound and a
reasonable sense of groove. They also do a very solid
version of Zeppelin's Tea For One. It's a bit over the
top (I think Ross Halfin quoted Jimmy as saying Joe
sounded like he was "showing off a bit") but the guy
is definitely a good guitarist. The production on Tea
for One is quite good with lots of crunch and a cool
sort of orchestral dive bomb launching into some BIG
crunchy chords for the D-A chord progression at the
beginning of each verse. This guy obviously gets
Zeppelin and just in case he doesn't, son of Bonzo is
there to hammer him into submission!!
The music is varied, but mainly variations on blues
rock, the sound is loud but clear for a contemporary
release, and the drums are played after all by Led
Zeppelin's new drummer, so it's worth checking out.
Definitely not a waste of money. It'll definitely rock
your turkey leftovers!!
I give it two thumbs up :)
