TSRTS remastered....

It sucks. Not worth the money. The article accompanying the collector's edition nails it on the head- "The constant screeching of....Robert Plant makes this a film that will only be tolerated by tone deaf teenagers."

FBO- a community for tone deaf teenagers.

OK I'm kidding......I ahve to say, I am up to SIBLY now watching the movie and the production, mixing, engineering and effects used on the music far surpasses anything that has ever been heard before. After seeing the outtakes in the 2003 DVD, I was hoping this moment would come. If anyone doesn't beleive that the mix of a song cannot make a difference in how a band sounds, this will prove anyone who knows the original sound wrong.

The number one thing that I noticed is Robert's voice. The production this time around has actually brought Robert's voice down a bit, and has a better EQ on the voice so it doesn't sound as strained and thin as it did on the orriginal version. There is a fullness to his vooice on this that was completely absent in theoriginal. Not to mention that the lower end is also much fuller, and BTW I do not have a 5.1. ALso interesting to note that there are effects on Robert's voice in NG that seem to be more reminiscent of the studio version, without being slowed down. The drums also sound much fuller than they did before. It will be interesting to see the rest of the film.

I also purchased the CD which I have not listened to yet, but I was suprised and delighted to see that the fianl mastering was done by Bob Ludwig here in Maine. This is the first time I beleive anyone from Zeppelin has had Ludwig do the mastering, but he is fantastic and has been hired by many of music's top names. So now I can't help but wonder if Jimmy Page was in Maine a few months ago....interestingly enough, Ludwig formerly worked at Sterling SOund with George Marino in NYC, who remastered the studio albums.

I really have no interest in buying "Mothership", but I was wondering if that too was mastered by Ludwig?

With the movie collector's edition there are some great articles, including the original article about the stolen money, a couple reviews, replicas of the invitations for the release party and world premiere (might I say the invitations to this private party looked like a bit more time was put into them than the 2003 DVD release party (which was on a blue piece of paper). So now that I have my invitation I must find a time machine, I'll go back in time and I'll make a bet with someone as the party is beginning that George Harrison will be thrown into the pool. That should make me some money!!!

Hopefully this fixed up version of the movie and soundtrack will get rid of some of the criticism of the performance, as I feel like I am listening to a better performance, when in actualoiity its just some fantastic engineering.

Thanks Jimmy & Zep for taking the time to do this, it is definately well worth it.
