Re: Dave Grohl Mothership Review

I think it has to do with his perceived persistence in offering his
drumming services to Page, Plant, and Jones. However, I still contend
that we don't know the question he was answering. I doubt he just
offered the information. It's well known that he's a huge Zep fan.
I'm sure he gets asked all the time if they asked him to play with
them and things like that.

I, for one, consider him one of the most underrated musicians of the
day, along with Travis Meeks.

I have to disagree with your sentiment of Nirvana, though. I love
Nirvana. Always have. Kurt was definitely more talented than he ever
let on (you need to hear some stuff pre-Bleach and pre-Nevermind... he
stopped using his true guitar talents from Nevermind onward... if he
had kept using them, I've no doubt Kurt would be rated,
guitarist-wise, with the likes of Page, Beck, Clapton, Hendrix,
Gilmour, etc, etc, etc, and not just for speed, which he did have, but
also feel, emotion, and technique... the only reason people say he
didn't have is simply because he didn't use it past Bleach for
whatever reason).

I love Dave's review, though I disagree with his sentiment about the
acoustic number and I think it's a travesty that songs like Bron-Y-Aur
Stomp and at least one of their instrumentals did not make it on the
set. At least ED had Battle of Evermore...
