The thing about Mothership is that some tracks are
stunning but others not. I hadn't really listened to
much of the earlier stuff until last night. Babe I'm
Gonna Leave You is beautiful, but Dazed suffers a lot.
When tyhe band crashes in on those B chords after the
guitar solo, the cymbals just turn to mush. Way too
much compression. On the other hand, the cymbals on
Rock and Roll are the clearest I've ever heard them on
CD. I also agree with Mew's assessment of Kashmir. The
Marino version always disappointed me but the new one
sounds more like the original vinyl, big and majestic.
As for the Presence and ITTOD tracks. They rock!!
