I have not really looked at this particular site, or the forum for the that matter, before. Is that the general concensus on that forum, that Led Zeppelin never even existed? That the whole experience was only a side note to Robert's solo career? I'll be honest, I've never heard anyone say they don't like Zeppelin because of Jimmy Page. If anything, the one I hear the most criticsism about is Robert. I mean, I like his solo stuff, most of it anyway, but none of it even compares to the music he was recording from 1968-1979. Does anyone really feel that Robert would have had that sucessful of a solo career had it not been for the 12 years he spent with Zeppelin? I mean, he might have accomplished something, but I highly doubt he would be as well known as he is today. Page and Jones already had and probably would have continued to make their mark on music, and I'm sure Bonham would have ended up playing drums for several people once Joe Cocker exposed him to the rest of the world. Plant was really just a singer.....how many singers are there in the world? Just go to a karaoke bar and you tell me! Everyone wants to be a singer, and there are some damn fine ones that will never make it anywhere. And 1967-68 Robert was in a class of his own. I think no matter what rifts between him and Jimmy might have occured over the years, he would always be the first to acknowledge that if it weren't for Jimmy going to listen to Robert, he would not be as successful today. While that is only speculation, I highly doubt many people here would disagree with me. Love his solo stuff or hate it, fine. But to just ignore the fact he was with one of the most timeless and wonderful bands of all time is absurd.
