Re: Glyn Johns quote about Page

Yes, well being able to play guitar the way Jimmy Page does kinda makes a person stand out and qualify for superstardom a bit more than twiddling some knobs in a control room.

What I've always read is that Jimmy told Johns the sound he wanted and Johns got it for him. In other words, Jimmy had the vision and knew what he wanted and Glyn "made it so." Kinda like Jean-Luc Picard and William T. Riker. :)

Never heard this. Why would Johns say that about Page? Cheers Tony

Glyn Johns has always been bitter about not getting a Producer credit for the first album. He feels that he contributed just as much as Jimmy did, if not moreso.

Also, Page and Johns were "equals" back in the mid '60s (and they even played in a band together in 1963) so it must really chap Johns' hide to see Page become a superstar while he's still stuck in the relative obscurity of the control room.
