Had the most unbelievable day today. Packed my bags for the misty mountain,
over the hills and far away, to Snowdonia. Spent the entire day roaming the
countryside of Northern Wales. Being in UK on business I had an opportunity to
have a gracious colleague and his wife give the grand tour of the area all day
Saturday. First stop was a quest to locate Bron-Yr-Aur cottage. I can’t
believe we actually found the place. Nobody home but a few sheep. The current
owners must be doing some sort of renovation as there were some building
materials piled up to the side. Sign in front of the cottage is still missing.
I understand they gave up replacing the sign as it kept growing legs and
walking off. The location is everything everyone who has been there says it
is. Being there brings a whole new level of understanding of the inspiration
behind the music. Hope to have some great pictures once I get them from all
who took pictures (my camera was out of commission). Drove through
Machynlleth, near Robert's farm. Stopped at the Corris Slate Quarry and
Dolgoch Falls where the bits for Unledded were filmed. Made part of the trek
up Mount Snowdon, enough to get a fantastic view of the Llanberis Pass.
Ventured down by the seaside to see Conwy Castle. Tours were already closed so
we had to settle for the outside. Found a tremendous local pub for a few pints
and dinner. Ended our day with a walk around the entire wall about town.
Spectacular!
