RE: 30 Years down the road

Okay, Bruce. You got me. You shamed me into remembering and recounting. But
of course I'm happy to do so, and why NOT? Great shows at MSG they were.
Best concerts I ever saw. I will be writing about June 11, the second night
I saw them but the one I remember most clearly. I'll finish it in a couple
days, but here's how it begins-- just a teaser: "It's well after nine
o'clock by my groovy '70s digital watch, but Zep is nowhere to be seen.
Official concert start time: 8 pm. The crowd is getting restless.
Understatement of the year. The crowd is INSANE! This is getting dangerous--
real ultra-violence. It's my first-ever visit to NYC from the humble hamlet
of Pittsburgh, and I'm a little intimidated. I'm 13 years old. Some burly,
bearded biker-type in full leathers is next to me, tossing a two-gallon jug
o' wine up in the air like it's a tennis ball. Christ knows what that dark,
oily liquid inside really is. I'm getting up the nerve to ask him for a
taste...
