Exactly. EAC, like several programs, can be configured to call external
compression programs, lossless or lossy. For example, when creating MP3s
for my portable player, I usually bypass internal MP3 creation routines
and call Lame with my own preferred settings.
As for NTI, it's a CD-DVD creation program like Nero, just not nearly as
popular. I haven't really heard it mentioned now for a few years but I
gather from Googling that it's still around.
