BOTM #5 part zwei

This must be one tough crowd to please as I still cannot get over how
quiet they seem between numbers except to express their impatience with whistles and clapping when another number dosen't start immediately. Hmm, I said polite before didn't I ? I take it back!

Plant introduces MMH with "This is a song that features John Paul
Jones on Piano" Jonesy starts up as you would expect, but when Bonzo
and Page Join in, it seems as if Bonzo's intent on making this song his.
The drums sounds very prominent on this one which is great for any Bonzo
enthusiast indeed. He is definately the one driving this puppy home.
Meanwhile Plant is definately playing it low key. Save for Plant's
delivery, I believe bombastic would be the best way to describe how this
one was done tonite! Bonzo totally dominates the end of this one and
then we're treated to a flying fury of notes from page that somehow
takes us from A to C seemlessly in a way that only Page could muster. As
he hushes it down the audience appreciates the transition it seems and
offer up a hearty round of applause as they finally catch on one
number's ended and another begun. Plant still continues with the subdued
delivery but utilizing his newfound hoarseness to good effect. An
interesting beginning to Jimmy's solo but it just keeps building with
speed and intensity. Some moments you hear a future Stevie Ray Vaughn
sound ; ) ( or is it Alvin, or Louis or Little Mac Collins?! ) The solo ends with another painful sounding scream from Plant. Ouch! Did he mean to do that to his voice?! The second half features Bonzo mixxing it up playing ahead of the beat, behind the beat, being THE bEAT, winding down to the anti-climax as I call it.

Another Plantation to mark as a significant milestone in the great
scheme of things... " A song off the 5th LP from an album called Houses
of the Holy, which I suppose this is one of them " Pretty much explains the title to these folks and you'd think they'd get a kick out of being called "Holy" but there's a cool reception so Plant continues with "....at least four of us I mean..." I wonder if they all were shaking their head thinking hmmm they just don't get it Plant goes on "...It's about affection for young girls ...it's called Dancing Days!"

This is a good one for Plant's voice and he seems to have his
confidence back. And dosen't come off like it on the studio cut, but the
way Bonzo's hitting the skins tonite this is a killer drum song. The way
he's doing this stop and start and throwing in fills like no tomorrow
has has got me wanting to pound on my desk like it was me bosses head.
The audience definately dig the new number and Plant goes "Thank you
happy people" " Ohhh la la babay...NO!... nein" leaves me wondering what goes on...

"written in a state of alcoholic meditation in the moutainsides of
Wales in days gone by....a very happy song about the affection between a
man and a dog, and because it's a very happy song we've got John Bonham
to sing with us..clap clap clap...He didn't hear the applause I'm afraid" HA! " You can help us with this one with a bit of top on the PA system " And help they finally do, happily clapping along to Jimmy's acoustic strumming. It seems Page does get a little lost on this one and dosen't extend his break to long and they soon head back into the meat of the song. Ending with "Stryder!!!"

" This requires your attention as opposed to noise " before Song
Remains the Same - I guess Robert's hearing things the taper did not
pick up...but they tear into it with Jimmy's 12 strings sounding clear
as night. It sounds as if Robert's vocals are flanged/phased or
something, but it dosen't detract from this powerful performance. You
can't hear Jones too much but enough to hear some serious bass work
going on. The lead is tight as a drum, but the vocals really seem
drenched in effects at times. I wonder if this was done on purpose for
whatever reason ? Jimmy is simply amazing on this one, what a
masterpiece. No mighty Ahhh to end it as it segues into the quiet Rain
Song with that vocal effect still on and now bothering the hell outta me. Maybe whatever the sound tech did to the PA to help enhance Jimmy's
acoustic before is doing it. And the crowd is bothering me too whistling
through the mellotron. They definately seem to like to whistle. In these
virgin years for TSRTS & RS Jimmy's playing is just sublime. I wish I
could write music like this. This could've been the perfect version of
this if it wasn't for that phasing which also picks up Bonzo's cymbals
turning Robert's coldness of winter into a swirling mess. But just
concentrating on Jimmy, it's a wonderful experience. Hey guess what,
the audience loves it!!!

What a roller coaster ride this has been so far...fun rock, mellow rock,
harder than rock, make me cry blues, an I like little girls song, a very
happy song, a campaign triumph and every emotion under the sun rock....
WHAT's NEXT?!?!?!
