Re: stop me if you've heard this already

Oh, I'm not being cynical about the upcoming re-release of TSRTS, as I expect that however it turns up (in terms of non-performance musical content and so on) it will be a thrilling experience to watch and listen to. I just thought I might point out that as true as this might be, don't be surprised if the 'new' footage doesn't seem so new after all.

The great excitement is that it will be as close as possible to a whole concert unfolding before us as we can hope for, and that's the real dynamic of a performance - how it plays out from go to whoa (allowing for the certain nips and tucks Page will have made to maximise the sound/performance quality) - which the earlier release missed out on: that sense of a whole cloth laid out to share in, rather than a circumscribed version. Don't mention Shepperton Studios, I know, I know, TSTRS is hardly a true 'one night at the Garden' recording.

With so few Zep shows caught on film or videotape, we're lucky to have what we get.
