Well I promised Jeremy that I would post about the need for a re-union but I
had no idea just how hot of a topic that was. The one thing for the life of
me I can not get over is how people still criticize the WHO for only being
Roger and Pete for gawds sakes and was only 4 of them to start with, 2 died.
The Grateful Dead went belly up with the death of Garcia, what remains is
crappy and a total useless waste of time for no one but the remaining members
who
can make money (certainly not the sort they were making towards the end, they
were the highest grossing act in the 90s, another generation had discovered
them) the Allman's incredible as it may be, have been able to continue
without Dickie Betts nor Duane Allman, yeah Dickie's a peckerhead, lives down
the
road here a piece and shows up in Coachman Park a lot especially for the
Charlie Daniels Xmas thing but what in the world is the Allman Bros doing
without
Duane nor Dickie. I think people like Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes etc have
picked up fairly well and I understand Haynes is back or will be back. That is
outstanding his Govt Mule was one of the best power trios ever until he lost
Woody Allen.
I propose to the list to come up with a list of groups that could or would
not be able to continue should 1 of the members got out one way or the other.
Another prime example is Blue Oyster Cult, they lost the Bouchard brothers in
the early 80s, bounced back are one of the hottest rock acts still and are
recording GREAT music still, Heaven Forbid is an absolute masterpeice although
I think they released a stinker after that. BUT if Buck Dharma went NO BOC,
period end of question, bass players, drummers have come and gone. I think
even if Eric Bloom were to go that would not be it, as I have a Buck Dharma
Band Video and its sooo good it blows my mind. He is the band. I do not buy
the
endless drivel here about respect for Bonham. We're talking about Rock and
Roll degenerates here not choir boys, I mean guys who keep 16 year groupies,
shoot dope etc etc. To turn down 100s of Millions of Dollars not just a few
bucks "out of respect" for well a very good rock drummer, certainly not the
absolute best ever. I am sorry for the Bonham nuts but there have been guys
that
naturally have come up in a new age that had the advantages of newer
technology and of course the influences to pull off a better act. I think
that's a
cool topic who can go on still with or without who. To be honest Page/Plant
could certainly go on and have without any other name musicians behind them
and
played basically a Led Zep show. So there still are a handful of dinosaurs
left. But who would go down without the rest of what's left. Anyway I enjoyed
the re-action, Jeremy said hey, that topic is worth a couple of mentions of
things I got to get out of the house, here's some stuff that is left here Zep
and Page/Plant related:

Jimmy Page "Off the Record" radio show, Page is interviewed and music is
played and he talks about Led Zep, Page/Plant and middle age. Great show,
kinda
sends tinkles down your spine to hear Page speak, hes so laid back, talks
about having his guitar taken away from him at grade school, as he just could
not put it down LOL!! This is very entertaining!!:
