Re: FBO Projects!

hi nathan,

best of live project needs a lot of time and effort for every
voter/participating person just to collect the results. led zeppelin
has about 70 songs, add app. 10 covers to this, then we have 80 songs.
there are some people on this list who have more than 100, maybe 200,
bootlegs. even thinking about every favoured live version requires a
huge amount time. moreover, majority of the badgeholders are working
people.

but it can surely be done, of course.

This was something I mentioned on my response to the survey.

Going back into the archives (I got bored one day and decided to
peruse... glad I did... :D), I noticed that projects seemed to be a
big thing way back when. What about now?

There were two projects going around not-so-recently that I personally
wanted to jump on. The FBO Led Zeppelin tribute Project, and the
newest Best Of Live compilation project.

The former I did jump on, but never knew where to send the recordings
and such, and since my Dad's comp crashed and he had to get a new one
and the CD we recorded our takes of Ten Years Gone and Black Country
Woman on was ran over by a car, we have since lost the recordings.

These two projects, however, have since disappeared. There has been
no real... damn, what word am I like for... err... oh, right... there
has been no real interest in the projects as of late.

If the FBO tribute project were to gain some workable interest again,
my brother and I would happily rerecord Ten Years Gone and Black
Country Woman (sans the harmonica, though, as the one who played it on
the original recording has since moved out of state, and she is the
only harmonica player I knew who could play the song).

But I would absolutely love to see the Best Of project done. I know
there are, what, 2 version already? But since then, new boots have
surfaced, and better quality recordings of boots. I would, myself,
nominate:

-How Many More Times from The Jimmy Page Experience, April 27(?), 1969
-In My Time of Dying from the new EVSD release Snow Jobs

And I have no doubt whatsoever that there will be some juicy stuff on
the Whiskey release that would make the cut.

I think these and other projects would be a mighty incredible way of
really building things up on FBO again. I know I would enjoy it.
What do y'all say? Should we revive the projects?

I say yes.
