Not a dumb question at all. A tree is usually set up so that one person 
provides a show, and one person makes 10 copies for 10 people, and those 
10 people each make 10 copies, allowing the show to get to 100 people 
relatively quickly.

One of the problems with trees is sometimes there are shows that many 
people have, and don't generate enough interest to be worth treeing (lack 
of branches, etc) because most people have the show.

A weed, or vine, is a single source that is sent from person to person. 
You copy the master to your hard drive and then send it to someone else. 
That someone else passes it on to another person, etc.

Somewhere online there is a good FAQ about trees, but when I search for it 
on google it thinks I want to actually plant a tree.
