For audio CDs to work, they must be set to 16-bit resolution and 44.1kHz
sampling rate. This is called the "redbook CD" standard.

Just for your info, if you're doing audio for DVD video, it has to be
either 48 or 96kHz (with 16- or 24-bit resolution. 44.1 audio will not
work on a DVD). The DVD-Audio format adds lots of flexibility with
virtually all of these and more.  However, for what you're doing:
standard audio CDs, 44.1 and 16-bit resolution is essential.
