Talked to Joe over the weekend, and I slyly slipped in some more
questions about work that he did or didn't do on Jimmy's guitars.
We were talking about 'modding' guitars, and Joe mentioned that
collectors/sellers want everything 'original'. We talked a bit about
the Black Beauty and the three toggle switches he put it on it for
Jimmy, and then he mentioned the 'nails' mod he did on one of Jimmy's
guitars. Remember, there were no Straploks then!
Me: "So which guitar was it that you nailed the strap onto?"
Joe: "One of his 'sunbursts'".
Me: "Not the Number One?!"
Joe: "No, no, I think it was the Number Two, one of his sunbursts...."
But, Joe also referred to it as a 'cherry sunburst', so it may/may not
be the Number Two. Regardless, he did what Jimmy wanted him to do,
which was, nail the strap onto the guitar!
I also asked if he did any wiring on the Gibson EDS-1275 (Just for you,
Nech... :))
Joe said, "No, Jimmy didn't have the doubleneck when I was working for
him..."
Hopefully, this is of some interest to you folks out there!
Keep groovin'
