Anyone remember their first ever Zep boot ?
I was turned onto zeppelin by my older brother in 1970. I was the ripe ole age of 5. He
would put his headphones on me and play led zeppelin II, way too loud. My mother still
tells stories of me walking around singing "want a whole lotta
love...nereeeer." I still thank him to this day :)
Got turned onto the boot scene my second year in college, 1984. I was visiting a friend in the dorms and one of his neighbors had a cassette of earl's court. I never knew they existed. Went down to the local head shop/used record store and bought a copy of "alpha and omega", started a monthly trend. next came "bbc sessions" and "riot house".
Started scouring every record store in every town that i would visit.
Eventually started getting copies of goldmine and used to send my money orders
to a fishmonger in japan. :) Record shows were a great place to look. used to
drive to san francisco and go to the shows there. Now with bittorrent, i've
got so many versions of all the shows, i don't know if i'll ever listen to them
all.
The wife is not a zeppelin fan at all. when i get a chance to listen to zep,
it's usually in the car or on the 'puter at work. The funny thing is on the
way home tonight, i'm listening to whole lotta love on the classic rock station
and the wife calls from her car to tell me that my 3 year old girl is pounding
her fists on her thighs and singing to whole lotta love. makes an old man
smile...... may the circle be unbroken.
eye thank ewe
