Speaking of possible vocalists for Jimmy Page's 'New Yardbirds'.....

I'm currently reading MOJO 11/98, the one with Dylan on the cover, and 
I'm reading about my OTHER fave band, Mott the Hoople.  Sorry, Zepsters, 
but the Hooplers are threatening to knock Zep off my #1 perch..... ;)

Anyhoo, here is an excerpt from the paragraph where Ian Hunter had just 
auditioned for Mott....

"The new recruit was Ian Hunter Patterson from Shrewsbury.  Older than 
the others, he was a veteran of British beat groups in Hamburg, had 
recently backed Billy Fury and almost joined Jimmy Page's New Yardbirds."

Now, we KNOW that that chemistry wouldn't have worked out, but still, 
what a thought!
