My first boot...1971.09.14 Going To California...man I
love that show, there isn't anything about it that
doesn't get me right "there": heart and soul...and yep
those nether regions too. Maybe it's because it's the
first one I ever owned. Maybe it's the vibe of it. You
can feel the excitement of the audience and the
intensity of the band. Every time I hear it it's like
I am there.

Why do I still follow them? Because they still after
all these years are capable of making me feel absolute
awe, could be over a bass line...a drum fill...a
certain riff or guitar solo...the way a line is
delivered by Robert. It can happen in a song I have
heard thousands of times. Just today I was listening
to IMTOD in the car on the way home and the hair stood
up on the back of my neck on that bit at the end of
the song where the band kicks back in...you know what
I'm talking about, right after Robert does his "Oh My
Jesus" plea over and over again..that is just sheer
magic to me. This band still takes me away to another
place when I listen to them, all I have to do is close
my eyes and go along for the ride.

And yes Nech...they are indeed the soundtrack of my
life. There isn't a single song by them that doesn't
have a memory attached.
