Random thoughts to ponder

 We all know of the toll time took on the reels of vid from Earls court 
and other stuff that made it's way to DVD. So just what do the people 
with their iron grips on other certain vids think is happeneing to their 
goods ?  Although maybe not complete, I have heard enough stuff from 
enough folks to convince me that footage does exist of Houston 77 and 
also maybe gigs at MD..... ( throwing fuel on the fire of speculation 
started with the recent release of the complete 5/26 set ). Throw into 
the mix some more MSG footage that hasn't made the rounds and , well, 
you get my drift...there's still stuff out there.

 But the problem is this, just what in the name of oh Georgina are the 
hoarders waiting for ? For it all to turn to dust ? And what purpose 
would that serve ANYONE? I highly doubt anyone has taken the effort to 
already digitized any of what's out there as a) they don't have the 
knowhow or means themselves b) they're afraid to let it out of their 
hands to let anyone do it for fear of loss c) same as before but replace 
loss with theft and subsequent sale to .......  and d) we would've heard 
about it. So I just don;t get it.

 Add to that this zosofarian theorem.... just how much longer are us 
Zep fans that still would fork out a buck for it, going be around ? I 
mean, eventually the bubble's gotta burst. Yes, Yes, we all wax 
nostalgic about how the music of Zeppelin is eternal, but how eternal is 
the wanton echange of cash for Zep gonna last ? Sure there are new 
younger fans being born everyday ( I hope! ) but just how many are gonna 
have the same passion as our current generation and those before us to 
continue the trend ?  Am I even gonna care about Zeppelin boots years 
from now as I worry about my daughter's nuptial and my declining 
medicare benefits ?  I'm amazed that when both the bottleggers and the 
hoarders first saw the trend starting of material being spread far and 
wide and FREE by the net, that they didn't all immediately empty their 
closets and get while the getting was good ?  Is that per chance why 
suddenly a 37 year old tape suddenly HAS seen the light of day ?

 And it makes me wonder.....

 And speaking of wondering... wondering... Is anyone else wondering 
just what we may see come outta Wolfgang's vault ?  Back in July we read 
that their lawyer went out to London specifically to talk with the likes 
of our lads and other now mega stars with regards to what they have 
found and now in a perpetual tease we're hearing of archival Zep footage....
Could it be Oakland, or could it possibly be something of a more brutal 
visceral mind blow like 69 footage ?

 I have oft heard of people saying that they have made major efforts to 
locate new tapes via newspaper ads, classifieds, posters, flyers, random 
acts of violence, but then again, I wonder, just how much of that is 
pure BS because correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause in all the many many 
years I've been staring at this thing here called the internet I have 
yet ever to see anyone pipe up and say, " Hey man, guess what I saw in 
the paper today?!"  Do the zosofarian logic thing again and come up with 
an equation that goes like this...average age of Zep fan in 69...20-30 
, tack on 37 years and you got 57-67.... How many 67 year olds do you 
think are subscribed to FBO, RO, Planet Zep, Zeppinhood, or sitting by 
computers and doing googles on Zep ??? yeah, getting the picture 
again?... Wonder how many of them have shit laying in their closet 
without absolutely a clue as to what some of us would do to see/hear it 
or have just plain forgotten about it ?  Even wonder just how much stuff 
might have gotten tossed, by an aged stoner who just didn;t care to 
think as they cleaned out their closet in a move, eviction or other 
random act of cleaning house ? Ever wonder how many parents went through 
their kids rooms after they hopefully grew up and moved out and saw a 
bunch of super 8's labelled MSG '77 and said, "We ain't got no 
projector" and out it went with yesterdays congealed bacon grease ? Oh 
the humanity... Or got put away in a box in the attic ?

 I forgot who mentioned it here not too long ago, but what if, just 
what if, someone had the cash and true initialtive to take out a couple 
of ads in papers big enough to catch a stardust flower child's eyes 
saying " In Search of....."   Who knows what still lurks gathering dust 
in the closets of those who claim they know...  I mean, what if Jimmy 
took out some bigs ads in papers scattered through NY, NJ , LA Montreal 
offering up immunity and reward for info leading to the recovery of 
Black Beauty ? Someone may be sitting in an old age home going, hey 
wait, that no good son of a bastid son of mine that put me here had one 
of those in his room...011 + country code +..... 
brrring....brrrring.....brrrrrrring...."ummm,  Hello Mr Page, have I got 
a story for you!"
