I remember Plant going on about the origins of the instrument during the
memorable '95 P/P show at the Montreal Forum... He dropped the French name
of the instrument, "vielle à roue", and reminded the audience of the
intersecting heritages of Arabic and Celtic music yada yada

I read the Wiki definition first off.

It did not give any specific origin..thus why I said..there seems to be a
lot of conjecture as to it's origin...

And if you go to the link below..the person sort of states it's not of
oriental or arabic origin... however you can't access the entire article...or
I
can't..YET. SO I don't really know what his conlusions are.

As I mentioned before..I haven't read everything there is available
online..there's just too much...France sounds good to me tho, lol.

It sure is a strange instrument ..the more I read..the more strange it
becomes..lol. Especially when you start going back to Medieval times...

Thanx.

P.S. anywho..it was just curiosity...no real need for in depth
discussion..just thought someone might have abit more insight..and I wouldn't
have to read
so much, because I'm LAZY and my eyes hurt! ;-)
