I'm going to have to bail to go to the Springsteen
concert (he's singing all those great Pete Seeger
songs), but what I've seen so far of this series is
just plain excellent. VH1 doing the kind of
programming they're best at.
At about number 55, they did a top five guitarists -
don't know who chose and, as we've all learned, POLLS
MEAN NOTHING, even if we think they do.
Eddie Van Halen was number one and Jimmy Page -number
two.
Yes, the man who wrote Hot for Teacher and all the
other Van Halen greats won over Jimmy Page, who played
those brilliant versions of Dazed and Confused, and
who wrote many other songs with a singer with a brain,
versus David Lee Roth has about an eighth.
Other winning guitarists: Ace Freehley, and Angus
Young.
