That's a good question...
Having seen all three movies during a TNT "Death Wish" fest not long
ago, I wondered the same thing. Some of Page's music in DW3 seems quite
similar, if not the same, to DW2. Maybe Pagey negotiated a deal to
allow for some of his score to be used in the third movie? Maybe he
even wrote a little more incidental music, but certainly, it seems like
his involvement was not as much as on DW2.
And you're right: DW3 is an absolute hoot. Hell, I'd even buy it! :)
The Giggler indeed! LOL

So yeah, we all have the soundtrack to Death Wish 2. But just as I
was about to retire last night, a quick channel flip reveals Death
Wish 3 about to start on HBO 3. While fetching the cat, I see on the
screen "MUSIC BY JIMMY PAGE". I was unaware Jimmy was involved, so
against better judgement I flopped down on the couch to check it out.
DW2 was scored entirely by Jimmy, but this couldn't possibly be the
case in 3, is it? There are parts with screechy guitars, wild 80s
synths, definitely some bowing during the harrowing scenes. But much
more of it was flat-out awful, generic movie background music. Does
anyone have more info on Jimmy's involvement? If I had to guess I'd
say it was minimal, there was someone else responsible for most of the
music, and wouldn't be surprised if they just recycled Jimmy's
outtakes from 2 and used them in 3.
By the way, this is one of the greatest unintentionally hilarious
movies ever. It's well worth the price of a rental just for the
moronic dialogue of the cliched multicultural, leather-and-chain clad
fruitcake gang. "They killed the Giggler!" "That was uncalled for".
Check out the listings, HBO tends to run the same movies several times
each month.
