I checked all my books and could not find anything about curved bridges so
can't help there....
Since we have not been able to scare up Jimmy's missing LP BB maybe we can
all chip in our coffee money and get Jimmy a replacement...........I just
saw in the latest Vintage Guitar Magazine a dealer is selling a beautiful
three pickup 58 LP BB for a cool $100K +...Imagine what Jimmy's missing
guitar must be worth!!!
For those on the list who love guitars, and Gibson Les Paul Standard
Sunbursts in particular, you really need to check out the book "The Beauty
of the Burst" by Yasuhiko Iwanade...It has 80+ pages of the most amazing
close-up color pictures, front, back, headstock etc...of LP bursts from the
golden years of 1958-1960...There are pictures of ZZTops Billy Gibbons "
Pearly Gates" LP, shots of guitars which used to belong to Robert Johnson,
Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, Paul Stanly etc.....Unfortunately none of Jimmy's LP's
but still an incredible book in any case.
It also has sections with a lot of technical info on the 58-60
LP's.........Which brings me to give Kudos to Jon Lester with regards to the
serial number of Jimmy's stolen LP BB...Jon you are 100% correct, the serial
number given for Jimmy's BB is probably correct...All the guitars in the
above mentioned book have 5 digit #'s as they consider the space between the
first digit denoting the year of Mfg. and the actual serial # to be a
digit....so the 0_6130 serial number is considered to be a 6 digit # and
looks to be correct with the missing LP BB being a 1960........good job
Jon!!!
