Re: WHY DO WE LOVE ZEPPELIN

I love the fact that it showed me that it was cool to
be a good musician, that you could write stuff that
was "out there," and not be afraid to use all your
influences in the rock music you wrote. This helps so
much when you run into so many that insist you use a
formula, follow specific rules and not allow non-genre
bits into your writing. They broke the rules and made
it work for them. Robert wrote real poetry, Bonzo not
only tuned his drums but used them like tuned
instruments and added new sounds to his kit many of us
copy today, Jonesy wrote real arrangements that
sounded like stuff for orchestra, and Jimmy constantly
stretched what a guitar could do, even though he had
small, weak hands and used a big guitar--he just
changed tunings to make it easy for him to play....

:)

To this day, I can still hear one of their songs come
on the radio and have a smile steal across my face, no
matter how scummy the day may be. They've always
provided some light in dark places, and relaxation for
a few moments in a stress-filled world.

I also love how, if you look closely, they were
basically all geeks who weren't afraid to show their
geekdom. Queen, Genesis and Yes are still popular,
too. Who says that smart kids can't write good rock?

:D
