Zeppelin poll for all

The survey summary is almost done, sorry it has taken longer than anticipated. In the mean time if you read this, consider making a post to the list introducing yourself (if you haven't done so already) and explain why/how you discovered led Zeppelin. I will start.

I grew up with parents that listened to teh lcoal classic rock stations, as well as oldies stations, so I was always familiar with many Zep tunes (basically teh radio ones)

When I was 9 (around 1987)My friend Tom had asked me, when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he gave me a choice between 2 cassette tapes. Skid Row- Skid Row (which I wrote down as Skiddo-Skiddo) and Led Zeppelin "Houses of the Holy" (which I somehow wrote down "Def Leppard- Houses of the Holy")

I was dumbfounded when I went to the largest cassette store in the area with the greatest selection and could not find either skiddo or the Def Leppard album with that name. My mom said she knew Led Zeppelin had an album called "Houses of the Holy" so that was his birthday present.

All the other kids listened to the current hit music stations, and I did not. I grew up hearing the older stuff and I liked it. Most of this newer music was horrible in my mind. The kids on the bus were giving me a hard time about it, and Tom remarked when I said I like The Who this:

"If you are going to listen to old crap music, at least listen to something cool like Led Zeppelin

So I took his advice, although looking back I don't remember conciously tryigng to take his advice, i just somehow...did. And eventually I realized there was a song i really liked that I knew was them....that "Hey Hey Mama" song (and I'm not referring to BCW) and my dad told me what it's name was. I asked if he had it, and he said he might have it on the live album. (Of course we know what that album is, it was the ONLY live album)

I was dissappointed to find it was not on there. I think I listened to some of the album and sort of brushed it off....whatever.....

He pointed out that he had a cassette of LZII that he bought while stationed in the Phillipenes in the early 70's. I listneed to that and loved it. He told me he had the first album on vinyl somewhere but did not find it for a few months. So I listened to Zep II, there were several songs I knew, and I liked every song except "Thank You" which was slow and boring. (I'm sure I would have thought otherwise had someone played me the "Blueberry Hill" version)

I dug the hell out of that and eventually he found the first album. I loved CB, GTBT (which I recognized and never knew was Zeppelin) but hated the "slow" songs like D&C, YSM (eventually I realized these were blues songs and were supposed to eb slow)

Eventually I discovered Zepsets on the radio and sllowly started expanding my collection of Zep studio albums. By the time I was 13 and in 8th grade, I had a crush on this girl named Sarah D. Tom, in typical 8th grade fashion, tolf me off because "All you ever do is talk about Sarah D. and Led Zeppelin"

The next year we started hanging out again and are still good friends today.....

OK now it's your turn. :) Especially if you are new here or have never psoted before :)
