Re: Tap into this...was the list

Below is my favorite scene in Spinal Tap. It is frickin' hilarious and it cracks my ass up everytime I watch it.

Nigel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and....

Marty DiBergi (The Documentarian): Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?

Nigel: Exactly.

Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?

Nigel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Marty DiBergi: I don't know.

Nigel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?

Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.

Nigel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.

Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?

Nigel: [Pause] These go to eleven.

Sincerely,
Mike

'Tap definately did a good job lampooning all the excess in Rock and Roll and when a band becomes focused on anything, but the music. To me, it is meathead's best film, and that says a lot. And it is legendary. My wife doesn't get it like I do because she viewed it as a fictional documentary, which it's not. It's a satire!

Mick Shrimpton: "As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll!"

Sincerely,
Mike
