If this is precipitated by my posts today coming from a different email address,
it's because I'm moving soon and have to give up my old email address. It made
sense to me to register my own domain so I wouldn't have to change email addys
all the time. I don't attempt to be "tricky" by hiding behind email addresses.

Back in the 90s when I taught high school, I recall a kid one day spending a
whole bunch of time printing out a banner that said "Guns and Roses Rule!" I
asked him to name his favorite song. He couldn't name any of the titles, he
just knew they "ruled"! I asked him why, he replied with an irritated almost
shocked, "They just do!!!!"

I've read this same story about kids in the 70s not being able to name Zep songs
but knowing that it was cool to say they rule. Are you suggesting FBO members
should adopt this same naive, blind loyalty? Are you saying those of us who are
critical of anything to do with Led Zeppelin are "fake" fans?

Nech has criticized Plant a lot and Page as well. Is he a fake fan? If so then
why the heck is he investing all his time and (I assume) money in running this
mailing list, paying for the domain name, etc.? I've seen people who spent a
lot of time copying DVDs for FTLOFBO criticize Plant, are they fake fans too?
Carol Page put a tremendous amount of time into the whole FTLOFBO project. Is
she a fake fan just because she criticized Plant? What about the reviewer on
TBL who said Plant was in fine voice at the Royal Albert Hall show but then
criticized the show anyway and Plant's misguided use of Arabic expressions.
Fake fans don't usually spend money on tickets.

Robert's first reply to a question about Jimmy's Grammy comment was kind of
nasty, implying that Jimmy is engaging in "middle-aged self-congratulations."
Have you fired off a nasty missive to Plant for this since you claim you'd feel
the same way if "someone starting trashing the great Jimmy Page?"

Seriously Ron, expressing a negative opinion about someone's music is not
necessarily "trashing." My written comments about Plant are how I really feel
about his new work. When I played back Tin Pan Valley on the weekend, I was
disgusted by the voice. It sounded really bad. I couldn't believe this was the
same guy who sang with such power on Little By Little or Ship of Fools. Go to
manicnirvana.com and check out some of the pictures from the Warwick show
posted in the forums. Plant really does look to me like some old drunk who
wandered onstage. This is not "trashing" Plant. This is my opinion. You do
believe in freedom of opinion, don't you?
