Jimmy has shown no sign of being unwilling to get off
his butt and make another record. We've heard various
rumors. A record in which he plays a different guitar
on each track or uses a different singer on each
track. But nothing happens. I'm turning 56 on May 3
and kind of understand why he doesn't want to bother
any more. I just retired from public relations, have
thoroughly burned out and everybody who knows me says,
"Oh, good, now you can write. Because you're a writer
after all." But I'm not writing. I'd rather find the
best chocolate I can. I can use up a whole day doing
that. Or track down DVDs of Angel. Another whole
day. And, of course, yarn searching. Such pleasure.
What I'm saying is when you get older, you may not
feel like it anymore. I've got a body of work, not
like Jimmy Page's and I sure don't have his money, but
he has every right to rest on his laurels. And he
just hasn't caught fire with something.
So let's give him some suggestions.
I've been listening to 68-70 shows, They are hot.
There's no sweetness in them, no gootchy-goo in them,
they rock, they're sex. And they're blues.
So, Jimmy, I'd like to see you make a blues record.
Use some of the old songs - hell, I don't care if you
use all old blues songs, including covers brought by
singers, just play the way we know you still can.
Give us sex, give us rawness, give us the blues.
About singers. No, not men. Not Paul Rodgers and
Robert Marigold, and all those English male friends of
yours. Why not invite Bonnie Rait over? She's
wonderful and you know it. But please, not Beyonce
and all those Grammy types. You know why. Let's find
some class, some age and experience, some maturity.
Come on, Jimmy, play the blues for us. But, honey,
find a place to fit in a nice bow solo. Just for me,
OK?
Next?

You will need to be strong, for you will be called cowards and traitors. But
it is an act of courage to choose sanity and peace when others are choosing
hate and war.
