RE: Robert w/dove pictures that rock

Since I'm the one who brought up Townshend in the first place, let me simply
remind all sides of this sudden debate on child abuse that, no matter how
much merit there may be to the arguments on both sides, it has nothing to do
with Townshend's having written a popular anti-establishment anthem, "My
Generation." It wasn't about whether Pete's interest in child abuse is
sleazier than Robert's egocentric nature. It wasn't about whether Pete
looking at kiddie porn (supposedly for book research) is sleazier than Jimmy
Page getting involved with a 14-year-old groupie. It's not about Zeppelin
versus the Who.

I'm not a huge Who fan, although I consider both Tommy and Who's Next as
masterpieces. I am a huge Zeppelin fan, but I can recognize that there are
other artists who did stronger work in some ways. I've been reading a lot
about popular music for over thirty years, and it's become clear to me that
as a songwriter and lyricist, Pete Townshend is generally considered one of
the more important figures in rock music and Robert Plant a complete
lightweight. We as Zeppelin fans may not agree with that or like that, but
it is reality.

Now... I have time to respond. First, Eddie, let me eat my thong (eating
shorts doesn't work for me) for a moment. I didn't intend to bite you as I
obviously did. My strike was in reference to the child pornography issue.
So please forgive me if I offended you personally.

I feel Pete slithered away from reprimand because of his alleged abuse as a
child and his current (how long ago was this?) intended contributions to the
literary world. Wonderful - so - where is his book? Is he seeking a
publisher--still? I'm sure he could self publish. I'll read it along with
my copy of Jenna Jameson's book. (Oh, by the way, it's a good read.)

Come on, can we really compare the credibility and integrity of the people
attempting to rid our nation of this child porn issue with individuals who
'browse'? It's not a rational comparison. All the police I know have a
proctologists view of the world and I admire them for still finding value
and happiness in life.

Hum, I didn't say Who fans are sick! I think Keith Moon's one of the most
powerful drummers I've heard. I enjoy the way Roger Daltrey rocks the stage
and considers his vocals intense. I loved Tommy but that's all I got into.
For some reason, I never enjoyed Pete's vibe. He was always there; but, I
ignored him.

For me, The Who cannot be compared to Led Zeppelin, ethically, morally or
musically. It's a waste of time. It just doesn't jive!

And the other points you mention about Page... I don't know him personally
but to mention his relationship with a 14-year-old girl comparable to kiddie
porn is absurd. I'm not an expert but even the legal charges would be
different?

Can anyone tell me what a 14-year-old boy thinks of doing most of the time?
Well, a 14-year-old girl got loose and 'did' Jimmy Page. According to the
pictures I saw, I think she was...uh....developed...she had breasts at
least. You know, I can't say Jimmy Page was my first. Can she? How come
her parents didn't convict Page? This is an entirely different subject and
debate. And I admit, I know nothing about it.

My venom is dry, my fangs retracted.

I remain,

Anna
