Re: Robert w/dove pictures that rock

Not to nit pick but I dont think he bought any photos. What he did was pay the to access the particular site. According to Pete he was researching child abuse since he was abused as a child. Anyway...either way he was a dumb ass for doing it with out speaking to the cops first. Would have saved him a lot of hassle.

Opinions vary but I would stop short of saying that he is as guilty as the people who actually took the photos. He was a dumbass but not as guilty.

But anyway...

Townshend was supposedly researching a book and was subsequently cleared of all charges. I'm not defending him per se; I just think it's wrong to brand him as something he
wasn't.

for the record, he wasn't cleared of all charges---the police chose to warn him rather than criminally charge him, since he no longer had any child porn in his personal possession. he is also now listed on the UK's Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life, and must inform the police of any changes in address and plans to leave the country. so far as whether he was/wasn't a child pornographer......well, he paid someone to send him pictures of children being sexually abused, molested, and exploited. thus, he not only enabled those taking the pictures to continue their abuse, but increased the demand for such activities to continue. when you get down to the bare bones of it, he basically paid someone to sexually abuse children for his own purposes. a person who was truly concerned about the welfare of children being victimized thusly would be actively engaged in shutting down such websites, NOT buying from them, which only allows them to continue their child sexual abuse. that's why i consider him to be just as guilty as the people who actually took the photos he bought.

regarding Plant's lyrics, yeah, some of them are quite shallow and occasionally even inane. some happen to be very interesting, and based upon some truly excellent poetry. most rock lyrics generally fall short of brilliant, regardless of who wrote them......and they ALL sound MUCH better with the accompanying music than they do simply read alone, IMO.
