Re: Robert w/dove pictures that rock



I just realized, reading this, that the mini-poster I
have is the B/W that Preston took, rather than the
famous color one of Fortune's (which of course I
remember well).
I have the B/W on my wall at work - not only because,
well, the gorgeousness & all, but because it IS the
epitomy of what rock & roll means.  & such a great
shot stylistically!

There is a Preston shot of Plant with the dove, the
smoke and the pint
bottle of Newcastle, but it's a b&w pic with the crowd
in the 
background
washed out (Plate 2 in Preston, "Portaits," Los
Angeles: Mirage Books,
1983). In the color poster pic, you see details of
faces in the crowd 
and,
as was pointed out in article quoted in the original
post by Vilma, it 
was
shot by James Fortune.
