I was at the same show. I agree with most of Richards assessments. The show was greast overall and much better than the Paul Weller/RP&SS one couple of years back. There was a much better fit of bands this time around.
I'm not sure I'm to enamoured with the new No Quarter though. I think it needs to sink in a bit more. New stuff sounds pretty good and the new issue of Mojo just gave it 4 stars which is pretty good. I think I'll give the album a go when it comes out.
I've seen RP&SS 3 times now and this is by far the best they've played. They're more of a band now and seem to be having alot more fun on stage. Roberts voice was in good nick so to speak. I wasn;t expecting it to be in all honesty!
I thought That's The Way was great and so was Levee. Whole Lotta Love the crowd pleaser resigned to the encore file which is probably where it should be by now. Great version though.
Some general observations. Not as sold out as it should have been but there was a good crowd. Lots of younger people than previous shows and outside after the show alot of people seemed to be in very good spirit. One guy was beaming about Whole Lotta Love being played.
I sat next to a pleasant chap who travelled in from Amsterdam for the show. He'd been in the music biz for years and was working the stage in Holland for about 14 years. We had a good chat and he told me how he had a chance to catch ZEP in Rotterdam 80 but was working a festival and couldn't go. Always regretted that.
All in all a very good show. Pleased I went :-) Eddie
