RE: Robert w/dove pictures that rock

Seth -
I'm almost positive that the picture is credit Neal Preston. It
appears in his book "Led Zeppelin - Portraits" which I highly recommend
for its large number of candid shots of the band having fun together and
with their friends, if nothing else.

As a young lad in 1977 I stumbled into a mall record store and saw this
very
poster on the wall. I remember staring at it thinking "THAT - is what
rock
and roll is!" In fine print, at the very bottom it said "Led Zeppelin."

That was the very beginning of what has become a 28 year obsession with
all
things Zeppelin. I, too, have always wondered about the story behind
that
picture. However, as great as the story about the dove landing on
Plant,
right after Stairway sounds, I can't believe that it's true. That
sounds
like one of those incidents that's become a bit exaggerated over the
years.
However, I can't say that I've ever heard anything better. I've
listened to
that show time and time again, but have never heard the moment when the
dove
landed. Have I missed anything?

Regardless of its origins, that photo is still one of THE all time
classic
rock and roll shots! Was it Neil Preston? I've still got that poster
stored away somewhere, maybe it's time to take it out again.
