Hello FBO-
Grant Burgess has invited me to organize a jam for the upcoming Niagara
Falls convention in October. At three of the previous conventions
(Cleveland 96, Niagara Falls 97, and Toronto 99) I had done this as well.
Basically this consists of mostly FBO members, as well as some other
musicians who attend the convention, getting together for a couple of
hours and doing a jam session on some Zeppelin.
We need musicians. Guitarists, bassists, drummers. We need to have a drum
kit. Some of this stuff can be rented if necesarry, we'll work out all of
the details on that as time goes along.
I also need an assistant coordinator for this, basically to handle the
work in the case I cannot make it. I SHOULD be able to get the time off
from work, but it would involve me finding the people to cover my shifts
at the radio station. It is too early to tell if these others will be
available for the end of October. I will continue to help in the pre
organization.
If you are interested in any aspect of this PLEASE email me, especially
for the assistant coordinator. It is a chance for people to get up, jam,
have fun, and play music in front of the convention crowd. We will be
opening fgor the two tribute bands playing that night and will have a
couple of hours to work with, so it is important that things move along
quickly. Regardless I will need assistance from the assistant coordinator
even if I do go, to keep things moving along while I am performing, as I
plan on taking part in the jam myself.
If interested, please email me, tell me what instrument you play, and in
the next couple of weeks we'll get the ball rolling. If you are not sure
whether you can attend but think your attendance is likely, please email
me now rather than later, I'd rather have people pull out then have to
throw together a lot of this at the last minute, there will be enough last
minute people to add on the night of the jam as it is. This is a huge
task, and with my lack of time I want to keep it as simple as possible.
Thanks!
