rambling away about zeppelin day

OK well not specifically, just while going through some mail (and a
tremendous backlog of it after being away and only being able to make a
couple of brief checks on Kat's laptop while in the city) But here are
some various ramblings:

1. FBO is alive and probably the best I've ever seen it. Many new emmbers
coming out of the woodwork, I'll ahve to check the subscriber list to see
how many we have, I wonder if there is a surge of new subscribers with all
of this new stuff coming out. All I know is that it is certainly
generating discussion and it is good to see so many people having such
wonderful discussions on here.

2. I am unsatisfied not with the artwork on the CD's/DVD's, but with the
people bitching about the artwork. Who cares? I bought them for tthe music
inside, the artwork could be a big white cover with nothing on it and I
could care less. It has the important info on there that I care about, and
the DVD came with some nice liner notes. Liner notes are a bonus. It's not
like any Led Zeppelin albums originally came with any (with the exception
of TSRTS). This is the music and videos that we have been waiting for for
years. This is what people on FBO, and DG before that, have been begging
for. It comes out and people bitch and complain about the artwork. Giuve
credit where credit is due, Jimmy Page spent a lot of time getting this
thing together, which I can imagine was a lot of work. So give them a god
damn break. Aren't we here because we like the music?

3. One of my favorite moments on the DVD thus far is the point in time
when Robert sings "Gallows Pole" in the iddle of Trampled. What I always
found fascinating was how "Renegade" by Styx sounds a little like
"Trampled" yet it talks about hangmen and gallows poles. This live concert
showed the connection. Also the nods to the Crunge and Walter's Walk in
"Dazed" oin the CD are incredible.

4. I agree with Jason about preferring the second DVD. Achilles, IMTOD.
Also someone else commented about how Bonham just went nuts on that 1969
stuff and how by the time the late 70's troll around, he DOES make a much
bigger sound with so much less effort, it's quite amazing. Happy birtthday
Bonzo! (your daughter is a cutie!) (I can hear him now MIXER KEEP YOUR
HANDS OFF OF MY DAUGHTER!)

5. Someone was tlaking about how people usually compare Knebworth to
Badgeholders or Eddie. Maybe wuith helping to run FBO for the past 5 years
I've been out of touch, but someone tell me about these "Knebworth" and
"Eddie" discussion groups, are they better than FBO? :)

6. I think the Today Show Interview was really well done. I know a lot of
you would disagree with me, I know a lot of you DO disagree with me.
Robert seemed very uninterested and not very thrilled, but nothing could
beat Jimmy's enthusiasm. You can tell by that how passionate he is about
these releases.

Keep in mind when watching the interview that the average person watching
this is not a die hard fan like those of us on FBO. The term FBO to most
of the viewers of that program means nothing. To many of them the only
thing they know by Led Zeppelin is Stairway. Look at it from that
perspective, Matt Lauer did an excellent interview with the boys I think
considering the audience of the show.

7. Someone should compile a list of ALL of the footage that is included in
the DVD and where it is located. There is a bunch of hidden footage that
while viewing it, I was thinking "Wait a minute, this isn't listed on
there!!!!"

8. I am interested in ripping the audio of the DVD for the sole purpose of
giving WKIT some extra live material to play. Not for pirating purposes. I
know of how I can record some of the audio but that would be a slow
process. I would only be interested in doing this for tracks that we do
not currently have a live version of in our library, IMTOD for example. Is
there any software that does this? It would be great for listeners of the
radio station to be able to hear some of this stuff too. Being an official
release, I don't think there are any legal issues with this, if anything
it would be more promotion for Atlantic for sale of the DVD.

9. Wow it's been a long time since I did a good ramble. A long lonely,
lonely, lonely.....awwww (in the words of Dardo) fuggedaboutit!

10. I'm still on such an incredible energy buzz after Tuesday night.......
life is good. Even if it did cost $521 to fix my car......gawd I got raped
up the ass there......god damn New York City prices.....
