I posted this elsewhere just now but I'm sure there are interested people here!
I just heard someone from Portland FINALLY ask about the 77 tour!
the caller asked if he had the master copy of Seattle and if he was aware that
there was a boot dvd release on DVD from Japan and if this would be released....
Page said the reason it was not used was because the sound source was NOT
multitrack and he wanted to use the best possible sounding footage.... he also
mentioned that the Seattle footage was "reference film" for the giant screens
at the venue and that the footage for EC and Knebworth was the same type of
footage (reference for the screens)... he then mentioned the SRTS 77 footage in
the menu stating that they used footage from Chicago and LA and mentioned that
he knew they were stunning on that tour (his words and my opinion) and they
were going to film some shows but obviously were not able to due to the death
of Plant's son.... he said they tried to "out-bootleg the bootlegers" by using
the 8mm footage in the DVD.
he also called the Seattle DVD release "a serious bootleg" !
he did not answer the "will this be released?" part.... hmm.
isn't it "strange" that the EC footage looks like it was filmed a few hours ago
and the 77 footage (what we've been given anyway...) looks like a old issue of
Rolling Stone?? especially if all of it was "reference film" for the screens as
Page mentioned?
