Re: No Bonzo! = Zeppelin

Replace Page? No, his guitar playing is too
signature to the band.<<

Yeah, right, Zeppelin without Robert. HA, I don't
THINK so - Zeppelin for the masses is Robert and Jimmy
together (remember how those P & P tours were touted?)
I don't think Zeppelin can reform without Bonzo
anymore than the Beatles could without Lennon (because
it just would NOT be as good, period), but for sure if
Jimmy gets a band together without Robert, it ain't
gonna be Zeppelin (let's see, he did do that, didn't
he? Did ANYBODY bill that Coverdale/Page thing as
Zeppelin reborn? Anywhere?)
Bonzo cannot be replaced - maybe most drummers can be,
but he was an essential part of the band.

As for integrity, yes indeed they've shown a
remarkable amount in comparison to other bands. Just
because they play songs from the Zeppelin catelogue
hardly tarnishes that - why shouldn't they? The POINT
is, that none of the surviving members of the band
MILK the past in lieu of the present. Robert, and
JPJ, have done lots of original work, and Robert
certainly does more of his own solo stuff on tour than
he does Zeppelin. The only tour he didn't was 1998,
with Jimmy - and even that tour, they had original WIC
songs in the set list. Somehow, I get the feeling
that the predominance of old Zep stuff might have been
part of the reason Robert decided to stop touring.

I guess you'll be enjoying the Queen without Freddie
and the Doors without Jim tours this summer! Have
fun.
