Zepheads asked:
is it possible that if [Robert] were a non-smoker, his
voice would have endured for longer? What if he had
got rest every night,
eschewed the drink and drugs, in short, "TAKEN CARE
OF" his voice,
which, as a non-singer, I marvel at, watching him
seemingly effortlessly
sing WISAWSNB...dude had a LOT of VOICE, didn't he??
</DIV>
<DIV> Now, even in '73, he was cheating on
OTHAFA, which is why
it's so cool to hear him do this with the high
notes on this new
(to me) version..... having known many 'singers', I
know that the
slightest cold, the least bit of
partying-the-night-before, can render them
hoarse for the next day....."
Teleri:
I will take that "endured for longer" to allude to
Robert's top notes, since his voice is still there,
big time, EXCEPT for the top half of that high octave
he used to have.
YES, his smoking, not to mention all the abuse from
fatigue, etc the touring inflicted on him, affected
his voice (temporarily). In other words, many of the
shows we hear on bootleg showed the wear and tear of
touring and overindulgence. His voice got
demonstrably better when he quit smoking.
