Is it just me, or has it seemed like 10 years since we found out
the release date for the new Zep stuff? The five track promo stuff
just wasn't quite enough to quell the thirst for what's to come!!!
I am currently listening to 1979's "Copenhagen Warm-ups 2nd Night" just
to get a feel for what to expect the Knebworth footage to be like,
performance wise. I am a bit skeptical about Knebworth because it's
never been among my favorite performances, either night. Visually
the bootleg video leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sure the DVD footage
will be stunning none the less.
Copenhagen Warm-ups 2nd night has an aggressive edge to it that I hope
Knebworth
has on the DVD. The band is really in pretty good form considering the
lengthy
layoff that occurred. Sick Again is especially "fun" to listen to.
Has anyone noted the lack of one of Zep's prettiest songs from the current
releases. I just realized that we don't get any version of "The Rain Song".
I'm
kind of bummed about that. We all know the light and shade of Zeppelin, but
maybe the
casual fan doesn't, and this would have been a great way to show it. Of
course there
are other omissions, but this one just struck me as being the most apparent.
I need some advice:
My best buddy, who is a huge Zep fan, is leaving for vacation on Monday and
won't be
back until the 31st. He wants me to promise to wait and not watch the DVD
until
he gets back. We want to watch it in its entirety from beginning to end in
one
session (without girlfriends and wives interrupting). I don't think I can
do that!!!
Would you??????That damn thing will keep staring me in face until I open the
package.
Does anyone think that the rest of Earls Court will ever see the light of
day
officially. I was really hoping more footage would be released. It seems
like
an awful lot of time an effort was put forth for this project, then to just
release
only 50 minutes of the 5 night performance is a little short sighted. Come
on Jimmy
release Earl Court in it's entirety!!!! You wouldn't even have to use
duplicate footage
from the forthcoming release, there's enough footage to go around.
Finally, I really am very grateful for what we are getting. It's just us
hard core fans
can never quite be 100% satisfied until each and every bit of recorded
material is released.

Brock
