FYI- even though I am an admin, I have no authority over anything, that
resides with the committee. So don't consider this a threat, just a
friendly little....hmm....reminder.....
Anytime there is a large discussion group, there is bound to be
disagreements, and sometimes anyone can be guilty of losing their temper
with someone because you might feel what they said was ignorant, selfish,
or whatever, often times it is just an opinion on a matter related to the
content of the discussion group.
I just went through a VERY large backlog of email, and I noticed that
there were several posts over the past week slamming other members for
their opinions about the possibility of Led Zeppelin reuniting.
I've recently invited several people I know to join this list. We also
recently got a plug on a large well known radio station in one of the
biggest radio markets in the country. These things are bound to bring in
new members to the list.
I don't imagine it would leave a friendly taste in your mouth if you just
joined something that people are talking about "What a great place it is"
and you get your first post, where you see someone swearing at someone
else and calling them names.
Let's try to keep this a friendly community. Like anything this large it
is bound to have tense moments, and I have been just as guilty in the
past. I know I'm proud to be part of this list, just as everyone should
be. For the most part we are a very together, agreeable group. We are not
moderated whatsoever, nor should we need to be. Some discussion forums
that are much smaller than this are not nearly as friendly.
Let's try to put a good impression on people. THere are bound to be
different opinions from different people, and when you are talking over
1000 people, that is a lot of differing opinions. Without sounding too
much like the late Fred Rogers, it is sometimes better to agree to
disagree. We all have opinions that we stick to and by calling someone a
"fucking idiot" that's not going to do anything but piss people off, and
make people think of this as an unfriendly community.
