Dear guys,
I'm a rookie trying to play Page's stuff, no matter
when, no matter why, just wanna have fun.. you know!
I'm not that good, but I judge my skill to be mostly
sufficient to play things that sound roughly similar
to Page's, which is enough to me.
I ask your help for a couple of licks I'm really
having problems with, maybe some kind heart out there
had similar problems and can now give me some
practical clue. Here I probably need suggestions on
how to improve and practice myself in order to reach
the desired ability...
Lick 1) This is a typical start of Page's solos and
phrases, for instance SIBLY, CB, GTBT.., in A minor
should be:
7r9 on 4th, then 5 on 5th, then 5 on 6th, then 8p5 on
5th (sometimes played again and again..)
Understood this tab-like notation? (r for bend, p for
pull-down)
I'm still wondering how this goes (which
upstrokes/downstrokes, or muting, and so on).. I'm not
able to make it sound like Page does.
Suggestions?
Lick 2) Well, this is not a lick, rather the famous
Page's wall of notes, namely, the
speed-of-light-full-of-pull-downs-over-different-strings
minor pentatonic scale solo, in both the ascending and
descending versions (again in SIBLY, GTBT.. and
generally everywhere..)
Which left-hand/write-hand techniques? What exercises
to reach that point? How to know I'm going in the
right direction?
Thank you for any info.
Ciao
