Re: Zep tour chatter

I've said it before and I'll say it once again. Bonzo will never be replaced.
You're the first
to mention how he does the little things, not just the monster fills. Yeah, he
did monster
fills that were incredible, and he did them often, but to be in a rock band he
had the more
groove than any rock drummer has ever had. If you watch videos of the band
playing live, watch
when Bonham hits the snare. He throws so many ghost notes in each song that
nobody ever notices
unless they listen REALLY close. That creates so much more of a groove than
listening to what
he's playing that is easily heard. As well, it's just incredible that he can
play ghost notes
so damn quiet. Any drummer you listen to today, you can pick up on ghost
notes. I don't care
what drummer you get, whether it be Terry Bozzio or whoever you consider te
best drummer in the
world, nobody can replace Bonzo. Just my .02-

>>After reading this article it has become apparent to
me just how out of touch he is with his audience/fans.<<
So out of touch that he's spent the last year compiling every Zeppelin fan's
wet dream.

>>Jimmy stated that it would be ridiculous to tour on
the strength of something they did 30 years ago<<
He's right. 30 years is a lot of time, and a lot has changed. For example,
Bonham is dead.
Peter Grant is dead. Plant doesn't sound like 1972 Plant anymore. Page doesn't
sound like 1972
Page anymore. If they were gonna be Led Zep, they should come up with some new
material, cause
otherwise people are going to be expecting 1972 all over again.

>>Is that not the stuff we all want to hear?<<
You won't hear it even if they try it. That's the point. Zeppelin is gone.

>>What am I missing?<<
DVD and HTWWW

>>And why would he think that he needs a reason to tour?<<
Maybe he doesn't, but Led Zeppelin does.

>>He's Led Zeppelin for crying-out-loud, why would he need a reason?<<
No he isn't. He's Jimmy Page. Him plus the other guys = Led Zeppelin.
Currently down one
Bonzo, and I don't see the situation improving.

People seem to think that Bonzo can easily be replaced and that what you'll see
will be Zeppelin.
I think the DVD and HTWWW will remind everyone just how incredible Bonzo was,
cause now you'll
be able to hear all the little things he did, not just the monster fills.
Jeez, after the tour
de force that's about to be unleashed on us, I'd be nervous about trying to
fill those shoes if
I were a drummer in a band calling itself Led Zeppelin.
