"I came from a litter of three, and I'm the one they kept..."

Greetings to all Zeppelin brethren near and far (or somewhere inbetween)?.

Confirm or deny, ye of more knowledge than I: converting MP3s to WAVs reduces
said sound quality?

Okay, so I haven't been in the Zeppelin bootleg loop for some time, and I read
on the
"Underground Uprising" website about a soundboard release from perhaps the best
'75 show
Zeppelin played?2/12/75. Man, I say to myself, no wonder those clips from
Jason's server
sounded so wonderful. What a tremendous find for Zeppelin fans! Now I will
say that the
audience source gives you a much better feel of the great vibes of the show,
but if you've
listened to that source enough, you can easily bring that along with you to
this soundboard
release. What a beauty?and what a show. I love STH on this night?some real
passionate
Page play in this one. Now my question is: what other soundboard sources have
arisen from
the dead in say the last two years that I don't know about?

Has anyone heard Tool's rendition of "No Quarter"? Certainly, it has a very
powerful impact,
but without John Paul Jones and his musical vision intertwined in the mood of
the lyrics,
I don't think Tool's version carries a greater overall impact in the end.
Nevertheless, it's
a worthy cover and I like it especially for the drum work. That dude is pretty
good on the
skins. Love the song "Sober", too?great bass guitar and bass drum.

You know, I know that 4/27/69 gets raves from most Zeppelin fans, but listening
to this show
while I've been recording to PC, I've come to the conclusion that compared to
many other '69
shows, this one really is inferior. It has its moments ("Sittin' and Thinkin",
"I Can't Quit You Babe", "How Many More Times"), but overall, when you compare
it to such great
shows as 07/25/69 and 08/31/69, the April shows lags behind. Undoubtedly, the
1969 Zeppelin of
late Summer was a much more improved band than the one that played in Spring.

Robert Plant will always be a very important and special part of what was Led
Zeppelin, but
do you ever find yourself wanting to strangle him when that voice breaks in any
1973 concert?
The 5/19 show is a good example of when Robert's voice sounds like bad feedback
in the line
"Been too long since I found out?" from BD, or when he screams like a mental
patient after
Page's wonderful solo in SIBLY. It's enough to give you a permanent twitch in
your facial muscles.

And a big thank you to all who emailed me in regards to my efforts to transfer
taped shows
to CD. It was a wealth of knowledge that you all shared with me and I greatly
appreciate it.
I'd give you all big kisses if I could (but no tongue :-P )?

Until next time, everyone be well?.

David
