Detroit '73 board

On the Detroit SBD... I find it odd that in every review I've read of the
"Songs of Detroit" bootleg, they always say the sound is better than every
previous release of the board. Granted, I have not heard any of the previous
releases, but my DAT copy is OUTSTANDING. I would say it is the BEST
sounding board of the US 1973 tour. The clarity, the mix, the stereo
separation, are all incredible. But it does have one drawback -- all through
Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, and right up to the point where the Theremin
workout begins in WLL, the sound clarity fluctuates in and out as if the
reel tape wasn't aligning properly against the heads during one spot of the
reel rotation. But once it finally stops, WOO boy is it fucking good.
Any insight?
