Well the short answer of the question is yes. I did
post a brief review of it last week.
There were not many list members from here talking
about it, but, other sites like Planet Zeppelin and
Beads of Time have more talk of it.
In the end, Zeppelinesque played to a capacity crowd
of 300 people on the Friday night and I kept hearing
comments about how people really liked this band and
you made a good choice to change tribute bands.
A lot of people from the US did cancel plans to attend
Zepfest because of the SARS scare. What I will say is
the SARS scare is just that a scare. Right now the
World Health Organization are issueing travel warnings
about Toronto without even sending representatives to
investigate the matter. The US CDC are paying more
attention to the SARS scare and their opinion is more
credible.
As far as the convention itself went, there were
approximately 200 people that attended the event.
There were about 10 tables of merchandise for sale at
the event. Some of the people who attended the
convention did state that they missed the Merit
Adventures display at the show, but they also realized
that there was not much I could do about that as Rick
closed up Merit Adventures over two years ago. A
signifigant amount of money was also raised for the
ABC Charity as well. Among some of the items sold to
raise money for ABC were photos autographed by Jimmy,
that were taken by Frank Melfi in 1977.
As far as future Zepfest plans go, I will be making a
decision in the next few weeks as to whether or not to
proceed with one in Cleveland in the fall. At this
point, I am willing to hear from any interested
parties who may wish to get involved with the event. I
am also looking for more vendors interested in selling
their product at the event.
Thanks
Grant
