Actually, this is a bit of a grey area. The charter says "Illegal
activities directly involving the list (those carried out on or by the list
itself) are forbidden" -- but the charter fails to define just exactly what
"directly involving" means.
The charter also says "Members are responsible for their own conduct
regarding recordings of released and unreleased material" -- which would
also seem to contradict the notion that it's a violation of the charter.
Furthermore, it should be pointed out that ALL BOOTLEG TRADING is
technically illegal, even if you're just trading for blanks & postage. And
*that* kind of "illegal activity" has been prevalent (if not endorsed) here
for years. Except during Zerxes' reign. :)
Personally, I think it's something that should be frowned upon but NOT
something worthy of 3-warnings-and-you're-out.
