I don't see why MSG '73 outtakes shouldn't appear on "DVD," and I don't
particularly see the need for a remastered DVD of TSRtS. "DVD" will almost
certainly supersede TSRtS as the definitive filmed document of Led Zeppelin
live, and reinforce the notion, long held among connoisseurs, that MSG '73
was a mediocre run of shows for the band. The fact that Page never
remastered the soundtrack album from the film suggests that he may not be
all that fond of those recordings either.
The new set may well contain all-new footage from MSG '73. Rumor has it, for
instance, that SIBLY has been edited differently from what is seen in TSRtS.
Who knows, it may even be from a different night... I'm sure we all remember
those couple of shots of Jimmy during SIBLY in TSRtS, where the image is
obviously not synched to the audio. It'll be nice to see it done right.
The transition from MMH to SIBLY will be great to see as well. Anybody who's
seen TSRtS but has never heard bootlegs from '73 will at last understand
that the barrage of notes from Page, after Plant does his silly "cosmic
energy, everybody just goes yeaaaah, bash" bit, is actually the segue from
MMH to SIBLY.
Still would have like to see Celebration Day included...
